What colors can magnets be, and what are the functions of different colored magnets?
The three most common types we usually see are:
1. Zinc-plated (white/silver appearance)
This is the cheapest coating. It is relatively stable in dry environments and provides basic protection for magnets. If you don't have high requirements for appearance and corrosion resistance, it is the most cost-effective option and widely used.
2. Nickel-Copper-Nickel (bright metallic appearance)
This has a shiny, metallic finish. It is a Ni-Cu-Ni composite plating that offers excellent corrosion resistance at room temperature. This is the most common plating method for Neodymium magnets.
3. Epoxy (black appearance)
This black coating is achieved by adding an epoxy layer on top of the Ni-Cu-Ni base. It can easily pass a 72-hour salt spray test, allowing the magnet to remain stable and functional even in harsh environments.
